The Full Whack - South East Wedding Band
School friends Robin Lowrey (drums) and Dan Page (vocals, bass) have played regularly in various bands for several years and started to rehearse with guitarist James Barratt, choosing a setlist together based on popular demand from previous gig experience. They’ve played a variety of gigs including university, office, weddings and music bar functions, with audiences from 50 to 550, and age ranges from teenager/early twenties, thirty something, widely mixed (weddings) and middle aged. The band’s musical direction is mainly modern indie rock and R&B hits with some more established hits and special requests. Imagine the recent ‘Now, That’s What I Call Music’ collections without the boy bands, celebrity one-hit-wonders and cheesy Euro dance and you’ve got a fair idea of the repertoire. Add to that some warmly remembered rock’n’roll, soul, funk and guitar pop hits from the 60s to the 90s and that’s what you’d expect to hear at a Full Whack gig. The time came for 'Baby' James 'Baz' Barratt to move to Ireland to begin a new musical life, so new axeman Rylan 'Rock'n'Ryvita' Hughes has taken on the role. With his bold lead work and solid versatile playing fitting well into the band's sound. He also does the best rock grimaces known to mankind during his solos! Always energetic, the combination of Robin’s strong professional groove, Rylan’s bold, versatile guitar virtuoso skills with Dan’s excitable audience centred approach is guaranteed to get the party going.
