Jazz In - Wales Jazz Band

Jazz In is achieving acclaim everywhere it performs, giving credence to the expertise of it's professional and ex-professional members.

The quartet mostly performs little-known but entertaining tunes that are not in the American Song Book and the "revolving" library ensures a new programme at each performance with a fresh mix of the familiar and unfamiliar.

At the Monmouth Show this year, we were in the band stand, on stage, at the time when the Spitfire did it's aerobatics, consequently we missed it. However we're booked again for next year and maybe will get a second chance.

The only other outdoor venue this year was the Abergavenny Food Festival - no spitfire.

Indoors at the Celtic Manor, Jazz In provided the "jazz music" mentioned in the press regarding the Newport Chamber of Commerce, Five Counties Awards Ceremony.

The quartet appearances also include The Vale of Glamorgan Hotel, The Glen-yr-Avon Hotel, Cwrt Bleddyn Hotel Usk, County Hall, Cwmbran, Riverside Theatre, Newport, and the Jazz Cafe, Cardiff.

Jazz In's new CD "Fowl Play" was reviewed by Nigel Jarrett, music critic of the South Wales Argus, who wrote "If every resident band was this good, landlords would start charging entrance".

Jazz In is resident at the Hen and Chickens, Abergavenny, every sunday lunchtime and appears every six weeks or so at the Queens Hotel, Monmouth in the weekly, wednesday evening jazz sessions.
